A Master Pull hawse fairlead is the perfect addition when converting to a synthetic winch line. Our fairleads are precision machined right here in the USA out of 6061-T6 aluminum. Unlike most fairleads, which are 0.75” thick, we use 1” thick bar stock for durability and strength. The additional thickness also provides more contact surface for the winch line to ride on, reducing stress and wear on the line.
We designed this fairlead with an enlarged opening in the center that tapers down at the ends. This allows the thicker splice of the over-braided Superline XD winch line to fit through the opening and up to a 9/16” tube thimble will pass through as well.
When installing a fairlead it is extremely important to ensure that the winch line will not contact any sharp edges of the bumper or winch plate opening. Our fairleads have a mounting guide groove machined into the back face to easily see if the fairlead is mounted correctly. If the opening on the bumper or winch plate is larger than the guide, then you are good to go, otherwise you will have to open up the slot on your bumper or winch plate with a grinder. Aluminum hawse fairleads have many advantages over roller fairleads. First and foremost is the significant weight savings. Typical steel roller fairleads weigh between 10 and 15 pounds, where the MPF-100 is a fraction of that, weighing just over 2 pounds. Our fairlead is only 1” thick compared to a roller fairlead which has a typical depth of 3.5” - 4”. This increases approach angle and minimizes the chance of damaging your fairlead or synthetic winch line when climbing or descending obstacles. Also, the small footprint of the hawse fairlead allows easier installation on smaller bumpers and winch plates. And unlike steel roller fairleads, Master Pull fairleads will not rust.
